Vertical Take-Off Flying Platform

This one man platform is a true VTOL flying machine, it's driven by a ducted fan to lift a man into free flight. It is different from a surface skimming hovercraft in that it can reach a considerably higher altitudes. Its driven by a pair of coaxial, counter-rotating propellers inside a six foot diameter duct. The duct gives the fans greater efficiency than unshrouded propellers having greater diameter. Originally developed and built for the U.S. Army and Navy in their VTOL research programs.
